How To DIY Oxygen facial at home
Oxygen facials are typically performed in spas using fancy equipment that injects a stream of oxygen into the epidermis (upper layers) of the skin.
It’s still possible to reap some of the benefits of oxygen facials at home if you follow steps like opening pores, getting oxygen into the skin, applying vitamins, and increasing blood circulation.
It’s unlikely you’ll see as dramatic a difference as you will at a spa. It won’t make you look ten years younger overnight.
Here’s how to do at-home oxygen facials to get that glowing, radiant complexion without the high-priced tools.
Method 1: Bentonite Clay, Rosewater, Oatmeal face mask
You’ll Need
- Small Bowl
- 2 tbsp Bentonite clay
- Rosewater
- 1 – 2 Drops of hydrogen peroxide
- 1 tbsp Finely ground oatmeal
- 2 – 3 drops of essential oils (chamomile/ rosehip)
Process
1. Cleansing
Cleanse and towel-dry the skin to remove makeup, dirt and oil. Firstly, you must wash off makeup and dirt with organic oil. Next, cleanse your skin with a mild foaming cleanser.
2. Steaming
Steam has numerous benefits for healthy, beautiful skin.
Besides cleansing pores and clearing toxins, it also improves circulation and relaxes the face.
The easiest way to steam your face without a machine is to use a bowl, towel and about 5 cups of boiling water. Additionally, chamomile or lavender essential oils can be added.
Pour the water into the bowl, add your oils, cover your head with a towel, and lean over the bowl. Get this steam for about 10 – 15 minutes while making sure you’re neither too close nor too distant from the bowl.
3. Face Mask
A face mask that contains nutrients is the ideal way to apply with increased blood flow and opened pores.
(Direct application of hydrogen peroxide can irritate the skin. However, if combined with other effective ingredients, it can be utilized without irritation.)
Add all the above-mentioned ingredients to a small bowl and stir well.
Apply generously to the skin.
4. Sealing the Mask
As the mask is still on, place a wet washcloth over your face for 5-10 minutes. This will help seal the mask. You can re-wet the cloth to keep the warmth.
As a result of the steam from the washcloth, pores are readily opened, allowing oxygen and nutrients to really penetrate.
Those with sensitive skin may want to skip this step so as not to aggravate irritation.
Using freshwater, wash off the mask after 10 minutes and pat your skin dry.
5. Moisturizing
Apply a mild moisturizer to seal in freshness and keep the skin looking fresh.
Method 2: Almond, Oatmeal, and Clay Face Pack
You’ll Need
- 4 tbsp of oatmeal powder
- 1 tbsp of almond paste
- 1 tsp of rose petals/ rose water
- 3 tbsp of water
- 1 tbsp of white clay
- 1 – 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide
Process
- Follow the processes of cleansing and steaming from Method 1 above.
- Add all ingredients to a blender (except hydrogen peroxide) or stir them by hand in a bowl.
- Add hydrogen peroxide to the paste once it’s ready.
- Use circular motions to apply it to your face.
- Allow the face mask to dry for 15 – 20 minutes.
- Wash your face with clean water and mild detergent.
