Nobody has flawless skin overnight – that’s a fact. You need to provide it with good care and commitment.

The feeling you get from naturally beautiful skin cannot be achieved by layers of makeup. That’s what the oxygen facial treatment does. So, let’s talk about the oxygen facial and what it does.

Intraceuticals treatments aka oxygen facials are on-trend and have been endorsed by many celebrities. These facials are supposed to Make Fine lines and wrinkles less prominent, Boost collagen production for glowing skin and Enhance blood circulation.

The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the benefits and side effects of oxygen facials. What they are like in dermatologist treatments and DIY oxygen facial procedures.

What Is An Oxygen Facial?

The procedure is designed to nourish the skin and increase collagen production. Oxygen molecules are sprayed directly into your epidermis (skin’s outer layer) using a machine.

It contains vitamins such as vitamins A, C and E, essential nutrients and minerals that become infused in the oxygen applied to your face and neck which in turn moisturizes and nourishes your skin.

The Benefits of An Oxygen Facial and Why get it done?

  • Collagen levels naturally decline with age, which is why this facial promotes collagen production by fostering fresh oxygen, nutrients and vitamins.
  • Oxygen facials are said to lighten hyperpigmentation and deeply cleanse pores.
  • Oxygen is believed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone, and reduce pores on the skin.
  • Increases the rate of cell growth. Healing acne scars and other blemishes are accelerated by new cell growth.
  • Improves skin elasticity and can also eliminate acne-causing bacteria.
  • The skin is deprived of essential oxygen due to pollution, and other everyday toxins. It rejuvenates oxygen-depleted skin and reverses the damaging effects of pollution.
  • A facial like this one does not require downtime, does not have side effects, and is painless. After the treatment, you can resume normal activities without facing redness, itching or burning.
  • By providing enhanced skin hydration, reducing wrinkles and other signs of aging, oxygen facials can promote younger-looking skin.

After receiving the oxygen facial treatment, many people notice a change in appearance right away. Usually, oxygen facials last for a couple of days; spas will usually recommend between 6-8 treatments spaced out over six weeks, followed by monthly touch-ups.

Who Is Ideal Candidate for this Treatment?

This treatment is for you if you want to improve your skin’s appearance and get rid of fine lines and wrinkles.

Oxygen facial leaves skin healthy, glowing and radiant. You may want to add oxygen facial to other facials and skincare treatments if you’d like to see more dramatic results.

How Does The Oxygen Facial Work? (Oxygen Facial Procedure)

Here are the steps involved in this amazing skin treatment:

This involves infusing oxygen into your skin with light from a stick-like device. Your face is rubbed all over by this stick-like device. This treatment will prep your skin by calming and smoothening it.

2. Serum

With this serum treatment, skin is brightened, wrinkles and fine lines are reduced, and skin is tightened.

3. Relaxation through massage

Finally, lotion and cream are applied to your skin and sealed in order to accelerate the effects of the treatment. Skin is massaged, cleansed, scrubbed, and exfoliated using oxygen-infused creams.

It is not difficult to see why celebrities swear by oxygen facials. You might have to dig deep into your pocket.

But fortunately, we’ve got some DIY solutions as well. It’s easy to do at home and does not require any special equipment. Check it out.

How To DIY Oxygen facial at home

Oxygen facials are typically performed in spas using fancy equipment that injects a stream of oxygen into the epidermis (upper layers) of the skin.

It’s still possible to reap some of the benefits of oxygen facials at home if you follow steps like opening pores, getting oxygen into the skin, applying vitamins, and increasing blood circulation.

It’s unlikely you’ll see as dramatic a difference as you will at a spa. It won’t make you look ten years younger overnight.

Here’s how to do at-home oxygen facials to get that glowing, radiant complexion without the high-priced tools.

Method 1: Bentonite Clay, Rosewater, Oatmeal face mask

You’ll Need

  • Small Bowl
  • 2 tbsp Bentonite clay
  • Rosewater
  • 1 – 2 Drops of hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 tbsp Finely ground oatmeal

Process

1. Cleansing

Cleanse and towel-dry the skin to remove makeup, dirt and oil. Firstly, you must wash off makeup and dirt with organic oil. Next, cleanse your skin with a mild foaming cleanser.

2. Steaming

Steam has numerous benefits for healthy, beautiful skin.

Besides cleansing pores and clearing toxins, it also improves circulation and relaxes the face.

The easiest way to steam your face without a machine is to use a bowl, towel and about 5 cups of boiling water. Additionally, chamomile or lavender essential oils can be added.

Pour the water into the bowl, add your oils, cover your head with a towel, and lean over the bowl. Get this steam for about 10 – 15 minutes while making sure you’re neither too close nor too distant from the bowl.

3. Face Mask

A face mask that contains nutrients is the ideal way to apply with increased blood flow and opened pores.

(Direct application of hydrogen peroxide can irritate the skin. However, if combined with other effective ingredients, it can be utilized without irritation.)

Add all the above-mentioned ingredients to a small bowl and stir well.

Apply generously to the skin.

4. Sealing the Mask

As the mask is still on, place a wet washcloth over your face for 5-10 minutes. This will help seal the mask. You can re-wet the cloth to keep the warmth.

As a result of the steam from the washcloth, pores are readily opened, allowing oxygen and nutrients to really penetrate.

Those with sensitive skin may want to skip this step so as not to aggravate irritation.

Using freshwater, wash off the mask after 10 minutes and pat your skin dry.

5. Moisturizing

Apply a mild moisturizer to seal in freshness and keep the skin looking fresh.

Method 2: Almond, Oatmeal, and Clay Face Pack

You’ll Need

  • 4 tbsp of oatmeal powder
  • 1 tbsp of almond paste
  • 1 tsp of rose petals/ rose water
  • 3 tbsp of water
  • 1 tbsp of white clay
  • 1 – 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide

Process

  1. Follow the processes of cleansing and steaming from Method 1 above.
  2. Add all ingredients to a blender (except hydrogen peroxide) or stir them by hand in a bowl.
  3. Add hydrogen peroxide to the paste once it’s ready.
  4. Use circular motions to apply it to your face.
  5. Allow the face mask to dry for 15 – 20 minutes.
  6. Wash your face with clean water and mild detergent.

Note: (Please do not exceed the recommended amount of hydrogen peroxide.)
